COMMERCIAL passenger services at the newly-redeveloped Nishatpura Railway Station were officially inaugurated on Tuesday by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Chief Minister flagged off the Dr Ambedkar Nagar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Malwa Express and inaugurated scheduled halts for the JabalpurVeraval Somnath Express at the upgraded terminal. The inauguration was attended by Minister for Sports, Youth Welfare, and Co-operation Vishvas Sarang, Member of Parliament Alok Sharma, Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai, local legislators, and senior officials from West Central Railway (WCR), including General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh and Divisional Railway Manager Pankaj Tyagi. Rs 14-crore upgrade to decongest Bhopal Junction and Rani Kamalapati Station: According to officials, developed at a cost of approximately Rs 14 crore, Nishatpura becomes Bhopal’s fifth functional passenger railway station. The facility has been designed to reduce passenger pressure at major terminals like Bhopal Junction and Rani Kamalapati stations, offering a convenient boarding point for residents in northern and eastern localities such as Karond, Nishatpura, Chhola, Bhanpur, Ayodhya Bypass, and Dwarka Nagar.

 

The upgraded station is equipped with high-level platforms, a foot overbridge (FOB), passenger lifts, modern waiting lounges, digital coach guidance systems, train status indicators, parking areas, and dedicated facilities for differently-abled passengers. Additionally, operational routing at Nishatpura eliminates the need for engine directional changes for trains heading toward Indore and Ujjain from Delhi, saving vital transit time. Rs 1.18 lakh crore rail infrastructure expansion across Madhya Pradesh: Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav emphasised that railway projects worth over Rs 1.18 lakh crore are currently underway across Madhya Pradesh. He highlighted that 80 stations across the state are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, alongside 100% electrification of the network and over 2,800 kilometers of new rail tracks laid since 2014. The introduction of regular stoppages at Nishatpura fulfills a long-standing demand of local residents, facilitating seamless connectivity to major commercial hubs and religious destinations. To further enhance access, railway authorities are planning additional long-distance train halts and an exclusive Railway Over Bridge (ROB) linking Dwarka Nagar directly to Platform 1.
