A SPECIAL Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) Court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of accused Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh until August 11 in connection with the Twisha Sharma death case. Both accused were produced before the court through video conferencing facilities. Following detailed arguments presented by opposing legal counsel regarding voice sampling procedures, the court ordered the continuation of judicial custody. Defense raises objections regarding voice sample collection Advocates representing the victim’s family, Ankur Pandey and Shubhang Dixit, stated that defense counsel informed the court that the accused had cooperated with the investigating agency during voice sample procedures. However, the defense alleged improper conduct by central agency officials during the sample collection process.

 

Addressing the submission, the court observed that arguments surrounding voice samples had already been considered during the prior bail application hearing, which has already been decided. Defense opposes extension of judicial custody remand Defense representatives strongly contested the extension of judicial custody, contending that the investigating agency presented no fresh grounds or material to justify extending detention. Furthermore, defense counsel questioned the prosecution regarding the total number of witnesses questioned by investigators up to the present stage of the probe. CBI declines to reveal witness statements data Responding to defense queries, the investigating agency submitted to the court that the probe remains actively underway, making it impossible to publicly disclose witness identities or recorded statements without compromising the integrity of the investigation. Owing to the regular magistrate being on administrative leave, the judicial proceedings were conducted by the presiding duty magistrate.
