PANIC gripped the area near Transport Nagar when bikeborne miscreants brutally stabbed a Congress leader to death on Tuesay night around 8.30 pm. Acting swiftly on the incident, the police successfully identified and later arrested all three accused involved in this attack. The deceased has been identified as Amit Prakash Kol (36), a resident of Ward No. 4, Shanti Vihar Colony. Amit Kol was serving as District President of the ST (Scheduled Tribe) wing of the Congress party and had previously contested as a Congress candidate for the Ward No. 4 corporator seat. The incident occurred near Kalyan Petrol Pump, opposite Domino’s Pizza in Shanti Vihar Colony. Eyewitnesses stated that Amit Kol was conversing with friends when miscreants arrived on two or three vehicles and suddenly launched an attack. The assailants reportedly surrounded Amit Kol and inflicted multiple stab wounds, causing him to collapse on the ground with severe injuries.
 
The accused fled the scene after committing the crime, sparking panic in the area. Although locals attempted to rush the injured Amit to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. On receiving information, the Civil Lines police arrived at the scene and began an investigation. The police examined nearby CCTV footage, identified the attackers, arrested all the accused, and recovered two motorcycles from the crime scene. The police stated that the arrested individuals have confessed to the crime, which stemmed from a trivial dispute. The Congress leader was eating roasted corn with some friends in the evening; a disagreement arose with the vendor over the payment of loose change. The vendor called an acquaintance to the scene, and during the altercation, Ashish (alias Monu Dahiya) attacked the Congress leader with a knife. After stabbing him repeatedly and causing him to fall to the ground, the accused fled the scene. However, the police identified and arrested them after examining various CCTV footage. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ashish (alias Monu Dahiya), Ankit Dahiya, and Lucky Dahiya; their past criminal records are currently being scrutinised.
