A FLASH flood alert for several parts of eastern Madhya Pradesh was issued last day, driven by a deep depression tracking westwards from central Chhattisgarh. Low to moderate flash flood risks have been identified across watersheds in 13 districts: Anuppur, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Damoh, Dindori, Jabalpur, Katni, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Niwari, Sagar, Singrauli, and Tikamgarh. Authorities have warned that surface runoff and localised waterlogging could occur in low-lying areas and places with fully saturated soil. The alert comes as relentless downpours continue to soak multiple regions across Madhya Pradesh. Sagar division’s Rehli recorded the state’s highest rainfall at an intense 162.2 mm, followed by Balaghat with 145 mm and Waraseoni with 137.2 mm. Heavy precipitation was also reported in Karera (115 mm), Bhitarwar (97 mm), Kumdam (80.8 mm), Paraswad (78.4 mm), Nowrozabad (75.8 mm), and Shahpura in Dindori (71.4 mm). Heavy downpours and squally winds forecast: The weather office has warned of continuing torrential spells alongside gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 50 km/h across various divisions.

 

Very Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated places in Raisen, Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Seoni, and Balaghat are expected to receive very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and winds between 30–40 km/h. Heavy rainfall with strong winds (40–50 km/h): Vidisha, Rajgarh, and Shajapur are under alert for heavy rain and stronger squalls. Similar wind speeds with thunderstorm activity are expected across Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, and Sheopur. Heavy rainfall with gusty winds (30–40 km/h): Isolated heavy showers are forecast for Sehore, Betul, Harda, Dewas, Katni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Damoh, Sagar, and Pandhurna. State Capital outlook and temperature trends: In Bhopal and its vicinity, generally cloudy skies will prevail with a strong likelihood of rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. Winds in the capital region are expected to average between 16 and 18 km/h, with daily temperatures hovering around a maximum of 29°C and a minimum of 24°C. Across the state, maximum temperatures currently range from a high of 38.0°C in Prithvipur (Niwari) to a low of 19.0°C in Khandwa and Khargone. However, meteorologists predict a gradual drop in day temperatures by 2°C to 3°C across Madhya Pradesh over the next 2 days as monsoon activity intensifies further.
