To mark ‘World Nature Conservation Day’ and to raise awareness about environmental conservation and healthy living, a bicycle rally was organised in the city on Tuesday. The rally was organised jointly by the Forest Department, Cycle Snehi Mandal, Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat, the Greens organisation and the Art of Living Foundation. The rally commenced from Kargil Chowk.

 

The event was inaugurated by MLA Dr Milind Narote, Divisional Forest Officer Ganesh Patole, Police Station In-charge Vinod Chavan, and Honorary Wildlife Warden Milind Umre. Anjali Kulmethe, President of Greens, Uday Dhakate, President, Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat, Dhananjay Patre of Art of Living, Madhuri Dahikar, Yoga Instructor, Prof. Vilas Parkhi and Upendra Rohankar of Cycle Snehi Mandal, Mr. Shemdev Chafle were present. After traversing the city, the rally concluded at the office of Chief Conservator of Forests at Van Bhavan.

 

Under the guidance of Chief Conservator of Forests Gajendra Narwane, Dr Milind Narote and other dignitaries addressed the students, emphasising that nature is essential for human life and urging everyone to conserve it. Students from various schools and colleges participated in the rally. The primary objective of this rally was to promote environmental conservation.
