INTERMITTENT rain continued in Sanskardhani on Thursday as the city received several spells of light to moderate showers throughout the day. The sun appeared briefly at intervals before dark clouds once again covered the sky. After a brief dry spell, the monsoon has become active once again over the region. The return of rain has brought much needed relief from the heat and humidity that had continued over the past few days. However, the showers also caused waterlogging at several places across the city.

 

Water accumulated on roads and in low lying areas caused inconvenience to commuters. Spokesman of local Weather Department said rain activity is likely to continue over the next few days. He said light to moderate rainfall continue to lash Jabalpur and nearby districts. The present weather conditions are linked to an active low pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, along with favourable monsoon conditions over Madhya Pradesh. Spokesman said the monsoon system has strengthened again, increasing the possibility of widespread rainfall across the State. While moderate rain is expected at many places, some districts may also receive heavy showers. He further said that the fresh spell of rain is likely to improve the rainfall situation and help reduce the seasonal deficit in the region.
