OPPOSITION MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, protested in the Parliament House complex on Thursday against alleged police excesses against student protesters and theft of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The MPs protested in front of Makar Dwar of Parliament. Slogans such as ‘chadhawa chor, gaddi chor’, ‘grih mantri sadan mein aao’ and ‘who gave the order’ were raised by the lawmakers. The MPs also kept a donation box with them and they were seen putting money inside it to symbolise the alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple. Besides Priyanka Gandhi, Congress General Secretary K CVenugopal, SP’s DharmendraYadav, TMC’sSagarikaGhose, JMM’sMahuaMaji, among others, participated in the protest. In a post on X, Venugopal said, “How long with HM Amit Shah hide and not answer the people of India? Why is he MIA (missing in action) from Parliament?” “We Opposition MPs are protesting outside Makar Dwar, demanding a clear answer for who ordered the use of pellet guns against students, and for heckling LOP Shri Rahul Gandhi and preventing him from speaking in the Lok Sabha yesterday,” Venugopal said. Meanwhile, the BJP on Thursday accused the Samajwadi Party of playing politics over the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, saying those who questioned the existence of Lord Ram and ridiculed the Ram Janmabhoomi movement are now claiming to be concerned about the temple issue BJP also said that the Uttar Pradesh Government is handling the matter with sensitivity and vigilance in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions.

 

The remarks came after Samajwadi Party (SP) MPs protested in the Parliament House complex on Thursday against the alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple. Addressing reporters in the Parliament House complex, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “The kind of politics the Samajwadi Party is trying to play over the issue of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya is highly condemnable. “It is very clear that the Government is handling the matter with complete sensitivity and caution, in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court.” He also alleged that the SP and its allies question the existence of Lord Ram and ridicule the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. “These are the very people who used to say that Ayodhya had no history at all. These are the same people who claimed that Lord Shri Ram never even existed.” he alleged. “These are the same people who mocked the issue by asking whether King Dasharath had so many palaces and where they were located. These are also the people who turned the Saryu red with the blood of Ram devotee ‘kar sevaks’,” he alleged. Those who “insulted” Ayodhya now claim to be concerned about the temple issue; they are working against Sanatan Dharma, Trivedi alleged. “Those who insulted Ayodhya, defamed Ayodhya, who brought disgrace upon Ayodhya and who stained the Saryu with blood now claim to be concerned. “The entire country understands that they are not concerned at all. Rather, they are delighted. Their agenda is the eradication of Sanatan Dharma,” he claimed
