Lesson in the Loop

If you are someone going through a phase where you feel stuck, lost and disgusted at the same time, following is an account for you. One of my juniors in Engineering college flunked in one of the subjects in a semester by just 3 marks. Not clearing the subject meant repeating the academic year while the rest of the batch moves ahead. I remember checking the answer sheet along with the answer key and trying to figure out even the minutest scope for increase in marks. But I felt helpless, there was no scope, no loophole in the evaluation and the ‘back year’ became inevitable. Understandably, an emotional storm ensued for the student. But here’s the plot twist. Cut to the last semester of Engineering in which the same students got a solid 4/4 GPA in her semester grading in internship work and presentation of projects. Technically, the same student who had faltered earlier, was now the batch topper in the new semester.

This made me realise that one cannot be good at everything. There will always be areas where despite working hard you will struggle to keep pace with the others. However, there will also be areas where your skill set flows so naturally that success feels effortless. Sometimes life breaks all timelines that you set in your head before revealing the true direction. When everything feels like it’s falling apart, gather yourself. The next chapter may be bigger, better and brighter than you imagined.. What we call a “blessing in disguise”, is actually perseverance and resilience waiting in the queue for the right time. So the next time you feel like you are stuck in a loop, keep faith in the fact that patience pays and when it does it come with exponential rewards.
