IT WAS a day of double delight for young Anaysha Baisware and Aaradhya Kalaskar as they won two crowns each in Under-13 age groups of the Yonex-Sunrise Bhagini Mandal Nagpur District Badminton Tournament that concluded at Subhedar Badminton Hall, on Sunday.
Anaysha stunned top seed Akshita Dorshatwar in two close games 17-15, 15-12 for singles title and then partnering Nikita Biswas, she got the better of Amoli Pendharkar and Mahika Tambe in the doubles final.
In boys singles summit clash, Aaradhya recorded comfortable 15-10, 15-8 win over Kanwarjeet Singh. In doubles, Aaradhya and Vedant Kakarwal beat the pair of Arnav Sarode and Darsheel Meshram in final.
In Under-9 boys singles final, top seed Ayaan Tamhan lived up to his billing to beat Shaurya Chitlange 15-11, 15-8. In U-9 girls title clash, top seed Aanya Jha prevailed over Shuddhi Yadav 15-13, 15-12 also in straight games.
Top seed also won titles in the Under-11 age groups. In boys singles, Pradyumna Meshram beat Abir Bhattacharya 15-12, 12-15, 15-9 while dropping a game.
In girls summit clash, the top seed Prisha Titare was just too good for Chinmayi Dapurkar winning 15-3, 15-5 without breaking a sweat.
Prizes were distributed by Nagpur’s former international player Arundhati Pantawane.
Arundhati Mahajan (President, Bhagini Mandal), Chitra Ghare (Secretary), Arti Pendsey, Kalyani Buty, Sandhya Bhoitey and Nishad Choure were prominently present.
