A total of 22 athletes from Madhya Pradesh have qualified to represent India at the upcoming Asian Games, spanning a diverse range of sports disciplines including athletics, shooting, canoe slalom, kayaking, shotgun, cloud judo, and equestrian sports. The Asian Games are slated to be held in Nagoya (Japan) from September 19 to October 4. Following the finalisation of the contingent, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang visited the TT Nagar Stadium on Tuesday to review the ongoing training, fitness regimens, and technical preparations of the selected players. During the interaction, which was attended by Sports Department Secretary Sanjeev Singh, Director Anshuman Yadav, and Deputy Secretary Ajay Shrivastava, officials took updates on the final leg of the athletes’ training schedules.

Addressing the contingent, the Sports Minister stated that the selection of 22 players across both mainstream and specialised sporting categories marks a significant numerical presence for the State on the international roster, attributing the achievement to the structured efforts of the athletes, academy coaches, and regional sports departments. The department highlighted its ongoing focus on upgrading the State’s sports infrastructure to match international standards. This includes providing administrative support for high-performance training set-ups, scientific coaching inputs, sports science integration, and standardised nutritional management across state-run academies to facilitate optimum preparation for high-tier international tournaments. With the selection process now concluded, the 22 qualified athletes are undergoing specialised training routines managed by their respective coaches and academy representatives. The sports department and coaching staff expressed confidence that the rigorous preparation schedule will enable the contingent to deliver competitive performances at the global multi-sport event.
