Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Kushabhau Thakre Complex, BJP State Spokesperson Vijay Shankar Mishra claimed the government has addressed long-standing administrative issues, including teacher shortages, manual processes and delays in service-related matters, through technology-driven governance and transparent decision-making. Mishra said that the introduction of digital governance has enhanced transparency and accountability within the Education Department. Through the VSK mobile application, which serves as a digital attendance system, 1,77,126 teachers are marking their attendance online every day. He said the government has also introduced a single online portal for processing leave and other service-related matters. More than 30.19 lakh applications have been processed through the portal.

 

The traditional manual promotion system has been replaced by an online process to ensure transparency. Under the new system, 1,335 eligible teachers from the T-cadre and 1,478 teachers from the E-cadre have been promoted to the post of Principal. Besides this, promotions for nearly 7,000 posts, including Headmasters and other categories, have also been carried out through a transparent process. Mishra said that 2,621 B.Ed.-qualified assistant teachers were redeployed to science laboratories after addressing technical hurdles, safeguarding their interests. He further claimed that the state had 453 schools without any teachers and 5,936 schools functioning with only one teacher under the previous arrangement. Through a statewide rationalization exercise, 15,165 teachers and principals were redeployed, ensuring that all 453 teacher-less schools received staff while the issue of single-teacher schools was resolved. Mishra also said under the iGOT Karmayogi platform, 1,95,818 teachers and education department personnel have registered and undergone online training in modern teaching practices and 848 new posts have been sanctioned to strengthen inclusive education and facilitate the integration of children with disabilities into the mainstream education system. He further said the government has approved the direct recruitment of 5,000 teachers and the recruitment examination is tentatively scheduled to be conducted during OctoberNovember 2026. Mishra said under the Free Textbook Scheme, during the 2024-25 academic session, more than 52 lakh students benefited with an allocation of Rs 144.55 crore. For the 2025-26 academic session, over 45.35 lakh students are being provided free textbooks through a budget provision of Rs 144.59 crore. He also spoke about the Free Uniform Scheme, under which students from Classes 1 to 8 receive uniforms free of cost and more than 30.84 lakh students benefited from the scheme during the 2024- 25 academic session with an expenditure of Rs 65 crore.
