CHIEF Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will dedicate development projects worth more than Rs 400 crore to Jabalpur during his visit to the city on August 1. The Chief Minister will also perform bhoomipujan for new works worth over Rs 35 crore. The projects are aimed at improving civic infrastructure, sanitation, environmental protection and public amenities. The Chief Minister will inaugurate the AMRUT 1.0 Sewerage Project, a modern fish market and a high-tech laundry hub. He will also launch the Harit Jabalpur campaign Catch the Rain campaign and a large scale plantation drive under the Miyawaki method. The biggest project to be inaugurated is the Rs 362.31 crore AMRUT 1.0 Sewerage Project. Under the project, 247 km of sewer network has been laid, around 89,000 household sewer connections have been provided and three sewage treatment plants have been constructed at Kathonda, Lalpur and Tewar. The three plants have a combined treatment capacity of 95 MLD. The project will help prevent untreated sewage from entering rivers and other water bodies. It is also expected to reduce waterborne diseases and improve sanitation in many parts of the city. The treated water will be used for construction works, gardening and road cleaning, while sludge generated from the plants will be converted into organic manure. Senior officials informed that work under AMRUT 2.0 is being planned to cover the remaining areas of the city.

 

Around 682 km of additional sewer lines and 11 new sewage treatment plants have been approved. The project will provide sewer connections to nearly 1.70 lakh households at an estimated cost of Rs 759 crore. Another Rs 250 crore is proposed under the Urban Challenge Fund to cover the remaining areas. Dr Yadav will also inaugurate a modern fish market built at Gurandi at a cost of about Rs 3 crore. The facility has been developed to provide fish traders with a permanent and hygienic marketplace. It includes 55 shops along with facilities such as water supply, chilling units and parking. The project is expected to improve working conditions for traders and provide better services to consumers. Another major project is the high-tech laundry hub developed for the Rajak community in the Civil Lines area. The traditional dhobi ghat has been upgraded with covered workspaces, improved roads, water supply and two modern high-power laundry machines. Around 40 members of the community have also been provided loans under the PM SVANidhi scheme to strengthen their businesses. As part of environmental conservation, Dr Yadav will launch the Catch the Rain campaign to promote rainwater harvesting. The Municipal Corporation has developed recharge structures, soak pits and other water conservation facilities at various locations. The campaign aims to encourage public participation in groundwater recharge and water conservation. The Chief Minister will also launch the Harit Jabalpur campaign and start a mega plantation drive using the Miyawaki method. Around five lakh saplings will be planted over nearly 100 acres at locations including Umaria, Dumna Nature Park and Kathonda. A Navgrah Vatika is also being developed at Dumna Nature Park. The Municipal Corporation has completed preparations for the programmes. Officials said these projects will strengthen the city’s infrastructure, improve sanitation, promote environmental conservation and enhance the quality of life for residents. The initiatives are also expected to support Jabalpur’s efforts to emerge as a cleaner, greener and more sustainable city
