“The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is scouting for suitable land to establish the proposed ‘Shiv Srushti’ theme park under the State Government’s plan to develop five such projects across Maharashtra,” said Nilesh Gatne, Managing Director, MTDC, on Friday. Addressing a press conference during his three-day visit to Vidarbha, Gatne said the proposed theme park would require 25 to 30 acres of land. “We have requested Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) to provide suitable land.

 

Work on the project will begin as soon as the required land is made available,” he said. The Shiv Srushti project aims to showcase the life, legacy and history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj through a dedicated theme park. Nagpur is among the five locations selected by the State Government for the ambitious initiative. Gatne said MTDC is giving special emphasis to strengthen tourism infrastructure across Vidarbha and secure more prominent place for the region on Maharashtra’s tourism map. The corporation is focusing on expanding tourism facilities while encouraging the participation of local entrepreneurs to generate employment and promote sustainable tourism. Highlighting future plans, Gatne said the MTDC intends to integrate major tourist destinations such as Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and Ramtek to offer visitors a more comprehensive travel experience.

 

The initiative is expected to attract more domestic and international tourists to the region. Gatne announced that the MTDC is working on establishing a Destination Management Organisation (DMO) to coordinate developmental works at tourist destination being performed by various Governmental agencies under one umbrella for better coordination. Dinesh Patil, Senior Regional Manager, MTDC, also was present at the press conference. 

 

 

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will invest Rs 101 crore to develop Gosikhurd in Bhandara district into a major water sports destination, announced Nilesh Gatne, Managing Director, MTDC. Gatne said construction of seven to eight jetties at Gosikhurd is underway. MTDC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC) to develop water tourism infrastructure, including the procurement of boats for various water sports activities. He also said that Navegaon (Bandh) is also being developed as a major MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) destination and has the potential to emerge as a preferred destination wedding venue in Vidarbha. Gatne added that MTDC has proposed several tourism projects across the region, including water tourism projects at Bor Dharan, development of Chikhaldara as a premier hill station, renovation of the MTDC resort at Shegaon, conversion of the old MTDC resort in Wardha into a modern commercial complex, and the establishment of a planetarium and research facilities at Lonar Lake to strengthen tourism infrastructure across Vidarbha.
