Prompt action by disaster management team and Allipur Police saved the life of a youth who was stuck in floodwater of Yashoda river for nearly eight hours. Akshay Mate, a youth from Palasgaon in Hinganghat tehsil, was swept 300 feet away by floodwaters of Yashoda river in Allipur circle. Akshay displayed immense courage by clinging to a tree branch. Allipur Police led by PSO Sangeeta Helonde worked tirelessly to save his life. She, along with her team and some brave youths, executed this daring rescue operation. Akshay Mate was travelling back on his bike via Allipur-Almadoh route on the night of July 30. Despite Yashoda river being in spate, Akshay attempted to cross the bridge consequently, his bike was swept away. He managed to reach a tree and held onto a branch to stay afloat.
