EXCISEDepartment conducted
raids at several locations in Sihora
and Gosalpur on the illegal manufacture, sale and storage of
liquor, recovering 30 litres of
hand-distilled raw liquor and 900
kg of mahua lahan.
Excise Control Room Incharge, Parmanand Korche
informed that the action was carried out on the directions of
Collector Raghavendra Singh and
under the guidance of Assistant
Excise Commissioner Sanjeev
Kumar Dubey. Acting on information about illegal liquor activities, teams raided locations in
Bela and Dhamki villages and
registered seven cases under
Section 34(1)(a) and (f) of the
Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915.
The seized mahua lahan, used
for making illicit liquor, was sampled and destroyed on the spot.
In another operation at Ghora
Koni and Khitola, officials raided suspected liquor-making
premises. At the house of Tarabai,
wife of Rammu Barman, in
Ghora Koni, the team seized 40
quarter bottles of plain country
liquor and 35 quarter bottles of
masala liquor.
A raid in Khitola resulted in the
seizure of 10 litres of raw
liquor and 90 kg of mahua
lahan. The fermented material
was destroyed after samples were
collected.
Officials said raids were also
conducted at other suspected
locations, prompting some
alleged liquor traders to flee. The
department is conducting further
inquiries and identifying those
involved
