A SEA of devotees marked the Sanskar Kawad Yatra in Jabalpur on Monday. More than one lakh of kawadiyas carried sacred Narmada water to offer to Lord Shiva during the holy month of Shravan. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav joined the yatra and carried a kawad with Dada Guru for some distance. He also greeted the devotees as flowers were showered on the procession. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Yadav said, “Wherever I look, I can see kawads. I have never seen such a huge kawad yatra before.” He termed the procession as a sea of faith moving forward. The Chief Minister said devotees had undertaken the journey with faith, devotion and determination. He said the Narmada water would be offered to Lord Shiva as part of the Shravan tradition. Dr Yadav said the State Government was working to promote religious tourism and improve facilities for devotees.

 

Efforts were also being made to develop religious places according to their importance and provide better facilities to pilgrims. The Chief Minister said Sanatan culture has deep roots in India's cultural traditions. Religious places inspire people towards self-discipline, positivity and spiritual growth. Referring to the Narmada, the Chief Minister said Lord Shiva is present everywhere. He said there is a belief that “Narmada ke har kankar mein Shankar”. Devotees carry the sacred river water to offer it to Lord Shiva. Dr Yadav also praised Dada Guru and other saints for their penance and spiritual practices. He said their lives inspire society to follow the path of purity and devotion. Earlier, public representatives welcomed the Chief Minister at Vehicle crossing. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, MLA Ashok Rohani, Jabalpur Development Authority Chairman Sandeep Jain, BJP City President Ratnesh Sonkar, Sonu Bachwani and Sanskar Kawad Yatra convenor Shiv Yadav were present.
