Reaffirming the State’s dedication to providing dignity and independence to persons with disabilities, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the State Government and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) remain committed to supplying necessary education, healthcare facilities, and employment opportunities to Divyangjan across Nagpur district. He was addressing at the valedictory ceremony of the four-day Jaipur Foot and Assistive Devices Camp held at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Auditorium, on Monday. Fadnavis emphasised the need to actively reduce disability-related challenges. He announced that the State Government provides free cochlear implant surgeries for hearing-impaired individuals. “Hearing deficiencies often prevents children from learning to speak, but upon undergoing a successful cochlear implant procedure, hearing-impaired individuals gain the ability to hear and speak normally, transforming their lives completely,” he noted.

 

The Chief Minister directed NMC to maintain a digital database of all beneficiaries for future assistance, conduct zone-wise camps to issue Universal ID cards, and ensure benefits under housing schemes are extended to Divyangjan. The four-day camp concluded with the distribution of Jaipur Foot prosthetics and appliances to over 4,000 beneficiaries. ‘Jaipur Foot’ prosthetics and assistive devices were distributed to Devraj Chilvilwar, Kritika Khapekar, Bharti Manglekar, Popatlal Kokade, Kundan Shirsat, Rehan Nitin Darvhankar and others. Mayor Neeta Thakre noted that the NMC actively runs 14 targeted schemes to make Divyangjan self-reliant. The event was attended by Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, State Minister Adv Ashish Jaiswal, Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, and other civic officials. Sign language interpreters facilitated the proceedings live for hearing-impaired attendees, ensuring complete accessibility throughout the programme. Public Relations Officer Manish Soni compered the event while Ruling Party Leader Narendra (Balya) Borkar proposed a vote of thanks.
