SANSKARDHANI witnessed a massive show of faith on Monday as the 16th Sanskar Kawad Yatra, termed as Madhya Pradesh’s largest Kawad Yatra, moved through the city. More than one lakh kawadiyas carried sacred Narmada water on a 35-km journey from Gwarighat to Kailash Dham. The procession was marked by chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Bol Bam’. The yatra started at around 6 am from Gwarighat after prayers to the Narmada in the presence of saints and spiritual leaders, including Dada Guru, Ramu Dada and Acharyas. The kawadiyas carried Narmada water to offer jalabhishek to Lord Shiva at Kailash Dham. They also carried saplings to plant at the Kailash Dham hills. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav joined the yatra along with Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel and other public representatives. Dr Yadav carried a kawad with Dada Guru for some distance and interacted with the devotees. He said the sight of kawads stretching as far as the eye could see was a remarkable display of faith. He also welcomed the devotees as flowers were showered on the procession. The Sanskar Kawad Yatra is also recorded in the Golden Book of World Records. Devotees from different age groups, including children, women and elderly people, took part in the 35 km barefoot walk.

 

Yatra passes through major city roads AFTER starting from Gwarighat, the yatra passed through Retnaka, Rampur Chowk, Shankaracharya Chowk, Shastri Bridge, Teen Patti, Supermarket, Lordganj, Bada Phuhara, Sarafa Bazaar, Galgala, Belbagh, Ghamapur Chowk, Kanchghar, Gokalpur, Vehicle Crossing and Darshan Crossing before reaching Kailash Dham. City welcomes Kawadiyas MORE than 300 social organisations and local residents set up welcome stages along the route. Drinking water, refreshments and other facilities were provided to the kawadiyas. Flower showers were also organised at several places. Elaborate security arrangements WITH the participation of more than one lakh devotees, police and the administration made extensive arrangements. Personnel from more than 24 police stations were deployed along the route for security, crowd management and traffic control. Special arrangements were also made at Kailash Dham for the jalabhishek. Traffic diversions, school holiday SPECIAL traffic diversions were implemented in the city during the yatra. Government and private schools were also given a holiday due to the expected crowd and traffic pressure. The arrangements aimed to ensure the smooth movement of the yatra while minimising inconvenience to commuters and ensuring the safety of children.
