DD NAGAR Police have arrested two men and taken a juvenile into custody in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in Raipur. The action was taken under the direction of DCP (West Zone) Robinson Guria and guidance of ADCP Rahul Dev Sharma. According to police, Azad Chowk Police received information that a woman and three men were sitting together in a suspicious condition. A police team reached the spot and found all four persons intoxicated. As the woman was heavily intoxicated, she was immediately shifted to AIIMS for medical care. After she recovered from the effects of intoxication, the woman told police that on the evening of August 8, she had been alone and intoxicated by the roadside in the Sarona area. Three youths travelling on a Bullet motorcycle allegedly approached her and lured her with the promise of providing alcohol and food. Police said one of the accused allegedly sexually assaulted her against her will in the Sarona area.
 
The three men then allegedly took her to the Azad Chowk area, where they allegedly sexually assaulted her in turns. As the preliminary investigation indicated that the reported offences fell under the jurisdiction of D D Nagar Police Station, the case was transferred there. Crime No 468/2026 was registered on the woman’s complaint and an investigation was initiated. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, police inspected the reported crime scenes, recorded the woman’s statement, arranged her medical examination and collected physical evidence.Investigators subsequently arrested the two adult accused and took the juvenile into custody after sufficient evidence was found. The two arrested accused have been identified as Shiva Baghel, 28, a resident of Sarthi Chowk under Azad Chowk Police Station, and Piyush Nayak, 19, a resident of Amapara, Raipur. The third accused is a juvenile in conflict with the law. The two adult accused have been sent to judicial remand, while separate legal proceedings have been initiated against the juvenile in accordance with the law.
