AMID continuous heavy downpours across State, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav visited the Situation Room at the State Disaster Command and Control Centre on Tuesday to review rescue operations and the flood situation. Accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Shukla, DGP Kailash Makwana, and Director General Home Guard Pragya Richa, the Chief Minister virtually assessed ongoing rescue works in Rajgarh, Sehore, Agar Malwa, Vidisha, and Khandwa. Meanwhile, prompt field inter- ventions by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) ensured that urban areas avoided major waterlogging despite incessant rain. Over 500 rescued as CM praises first responders: CM Dr Yadav highlighted that the prompt response of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Police, and Home Guards successfully saved 527 lives across rain-affected districts. He lauded their dedication and announced that local citizens who stepped forward to assist in life-saving rescue efforts would also be rewarded by the State. Dr Yadav directed district collectors to maintain extreme vigilance and sensitivity while executing round-the-clock relief operations. He ensured that adequate food supplies are being arranged for stranded citizens and stated that air ambulance services would be deployed if emergency medical evacuations become necessary. Strict instructions were issued to traffic authorities to prevent any vehicles from crossing submerged bridges or culverts.

 

Municipal corporation deploys machinery to clear blocked drains across city: Following two days of continuous heavy rain across the capital, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has deployed field teams, heavy machinery, and high-capacity pumps to manage stormwater runoff and clear clogged drainage systems in multiple neighbourhoods. According to municipal reports, field personnel equipped with JCBs, poclain machines, and de-watering equipment were dispatched to address drainage bottlenecks, blocked stormwater lines, and basement flooding. Municipal Commissioner Sanskriti Jain, alongside senior departmental officials, monitored field operations and issued directions to field workers to ensure drainage lines remained operational. Areas like Jahangirabad, RBI Colony, 07 Number Stop, Rajdev Colony, Shivaji Nagar, Bawadia Kalan Bridge, Char Imli, Arera Colony, VIP Road, Aradhana Nagar, Khejda Baramad, Radhapuram, and Shri Shyamji Tirupati Parisar were among the regions who faced brunt of the continuous rainfall. Additionally, de-watering pumps were mobilised to clear accumulated water in response to complaints received by the BMC Emergency Control Room from locations such as 74 Bangla, Hamidia Road, Bhopal Plaza Basement, Gulmohar Colony, Sevay Complex, FCI Godown Chhola, and Laxmi Vihar Colony along Ayodhya Bypass Road. Civic officials stated that control rooms established at both the main headquarters and zonal levels continue to receive feedback from local residents, public representatives, and field inspectors to maintain flow along primary drainage channels during the current spell of heavy rainfall.
