Panic at Railway Station afterInspection Coach catches fire

PANIC gripped Jabalpur railway station on Tuesday morning when an Inspection Coach parked on a siding line near Platform No. 6 suddenly caught fire. The incident took place at around 9 am. Railway staff noticed thick smoke and flames coming from the ICF coach and immediately informed senior railway officials and the fire brigade. Within few minutes fire tenders and railway staff reached the spot and brought the situation under control in time. Their timely response prevented the fire from spreading and a major incident was averted. No casualty or major damage was reported in the incident.
 
DRM Kamal Kumar Talreja said the railway administration has formed a high level committee of senior officers to investigate the incident. He said the coach was based on a batteryoperated system and had an extensive electrical wiring network. The committee is examining the possibility of an internal short circuit. The possibility of the fire being caused by mischief by an outsider is also being investigated. CCTV footage from the station premises and yard is being examined to establish the exact cause of the fire. Railway officials are also collecting evidence as part of the investigation. The incident was brought under control quickly as per safety protocols. The railway administration said there was no loss of life or major damage. The senior officers’ committee is continuing its investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
