The quiet Pavangaon-Bharatwada road was suddenly shaken by a loud crash on Wednesday at 5.30 am. A speeding SUV had slammed into the rear of a parked truck. The impact was massive. The front and side portion of Electric Vehicle Tata Curvv was crushed and badly mangled. Inside, three young friends were trapped in the wreckage. Two of them lay motionless. They had died on the spot. The third was seriously injured. Only minutes earlier, the three Class 11 students had been out for a birthday celebration. A simple early-morning drive had turned into a deadly accident. The deceased were identified as Bhaumik Amol Larokar (16), a resident of Wardha Road, and Sagar Sanjay Melwani (17), a resident of Pardi. Their friend Mihir Anand Behaar (17), a resident of Subhan Nagar, was seriously injured. According to police, the three youths had planned to attend the birthday celebration of their friend Jay. Mihir took his father’s SUV (MH-49/CS-0427), for the outing.

The three friends got into the SUV early in the morning. Mihir was driving. One of the friends sat in the front passenger seat, while the other sat in the rear. They were heading towards the place where the birthday celebration was planned. However, Jay informed them that he would be late. Instead of waiting, the three friends decided to go for a drive. They continued driving towards the Bharatwada Y-point. Police are now trying to establish the exact speed of the SUV and what happened in the final moments before the crash. As the SUV approached the Y-point, it rammed into the rear portion of a truck (CG-04/MC-2981) parked on the road. The collision was extremely violent. Residents and people in the area were startled by the loud sound of the crash.

The impact sent a heavy crashing sound through the surroundings. The front and side portion of the SUV was completely crushed. The metal body was badly mangled in the collision. The scene that greeted the police was disturbing. Bhaumik and Sagar were found lying motionless inside the badly damaged SUV. They had suffered serious injuries and were declared dead at the spot. Mihir was also found inside the vehicle. He had suffered severe injuries but was alive. The damaged SUV had to be checked carefully as the youths were inside the wreckage after the crash. Police and people at the spot helped in taking the injured youth out of the vehicle. Mihir was immediately rushed to Tarangan Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition was reported to be serious. Kalamna police reached the accident spot after receiving information about the crash. The bodies of Bhaumik and Sagar were taken into police custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Since all three youths were minors, Kalamna police have registered a case against Mihir’s father, who had given the SUV to his son. Police said further action would be taken after the investigation establishes the exact circumstances of the accident.
