WIDESPREAD spell of precipitation covered the State, most places across the Bhopal, Indore, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, and Gwalior divisions received generous rainfall. Many parts of Rewa division and scattered areas across Chambal, Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions also reported showers. The highest recorded maximum temperature reached 35.4°C in Chitrakoot (Satna), while Khargone registered the lowest minimum temperature at 17.4°C. Daytime temperatures stayed 1.7°C to 3.0°C below normal across Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain divisions, maintaining a relatively cool atmosphere. Several regions witnessed torrential downpours during this period. Gogawan topped the charts with an extremely heavy rainfall measurement of 218.0 mm. Very heavy showers pounded Khargone (202.4 mm), Jhirnya (182.0 mm), Bhikangaon (182.0 mm), Sendhwa (166.0 mm), Khandwa (138.0 mm), Khilchipur (125.2 mm), Pandhana (125.0 mm), and Guna (116.2 mm). Additionally, heavy rainfall was reported in key urban centres, including Kolar (101.4 mm), Arera Hills (86.8 mm), and Bhopal city (70.6 mm). Strong gusty winds accompanied the rains, peaking at 39 km/h in Sidhi, 33 km/h in Harda, 31 km/h in Betul, and 30 km/h in both Guna and Indore.

 

The active monsoon spell is driven by strong synoptic systems. A low-pressure system persists over northwest Madhya Pradesh, coupled with an active monsoon trough passing right through Bikaner, the centre of the low pressure over MP, Satna, and Daltonganj toward the Bay of Bengal. Furthermore, a low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal is set to intensify into a depression in the coming days, while a shear zone along latitude 22°N continues to channel moisture across central India. Forecast for August 13: Rainy conditions are expected to continue across the state on August 13. A majority of the eastern and south-eastern districts, including major belts like Shahdol, Umaria, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Seoni, and Balaghat, are predicted to receive rainfall at ‘many’ to ‘most’ places. The rest of the central, western, and northern belts will see precipitation at isolated to few locations. Localised heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm is also likely in several pockets, keeping the overall sky generally cloudy with moderate continuous rain and average wind speeds of 12-14 km/h. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 27°C and 23°C respectively.
