A ROAD-rage incident involving three cars carrying college students created panic on the Karond Road in Bhopal early Wednesday morning. The vehicles, reportedly driven at a high speed, allegedly rammed several vehicles between Ayodhya Bypass and Karond Square before targeting members of the staff of Sagar Public School. Four people sustained minor injuries in the incident, while the prolonged confrontation continued for nearly an hour. School staff vehicles hit: According to Nishatpura Police, the incident occurred around 7 am when school staff were travelling towards the school in buses and private vehicles. Three cars, including a sedan, a Hyundai Verna and a Maruti Suzuki Fronx, allegedly approached from behind at high speed and hit vehicles moving along the road. A battery-operated auto-rickshaw and two cars were among the first vehicles reportedly hit before the school staff vehicles were struck. One of the vehicles carrying school employees overturned following the impact.

 

Employees allegedly assaulted: After the collision, employees Waliullah and Subir Dey reportedly got out of their vehicle, following which the occupants of the cars allegedly assaulted them. Police said the accused also attempted to attack the victims with stones picked up from the roadside. The incident caused panic among commuters and other road users in the area. Female staff allegedly harassed:A second vehicle carrying female school staff was travelling behind the employees’ car. When the women intervened and objected to the alleged assault, the occupants of the other vehicles allegedly behaved indecently and harassed them. During the confrontation, one of the accused women allegedly broke the windows of another car. One of the vehicles involved in the incident also reportedly collided with a road divider and stopped. Woman held by bystanders: As the situation escalated, school teachers and other passers-by managed to restrain one of the female accused. A video of the confrontation later surfaced on social media. Police said some bystanders also caught hold of a male and female suspect and allegedly assaulted them before police arrived.
