THREE senior IPS officers from Chhattisgarh have found a place in a national list of the country’s 100 most effective police officers, released by FAME India in association with Asia Post. The survey recognises districtlevel police leaders, including Superintendents of Police, Senior SPs, DCPs and Commissioners, for their leadership and impact on public safety across India. The Chhattisgarh officers named in the list are Prashant Kumar Thakur (a 2011-batch IPS), who served as SP, Surajpur, and has since been elevated to DIG, Police Headquarters; Rai Gaurav Ramprawesh (a 2019-batch IPS), who served as SP, Dantewada, and is now posted as SP, Baloda BazarBhatapara; and Robinson Guria (a 2020-batch IPS), who served as SP, Narayanpur, and is now DCP, Raipur. According to the report, the national-level survey was aimed at identifying police officers who have demonstrated effective lawand-order management, crime control, people-friendly policing and sensitive administration in their respective jurisdictions, thereby strengthening public trust and safety.

The selection process considered several key parameters, including crime control, improvement in law and order, community-oriented policing, leadership and innovation, accountable and transparent functioning, quick decisionmaking ability, alertness and crisis management, interpersonal skills and public relations, opinions of eminent persons from various fields, and media and public image. Organisers of the survey said FAME India makes an annual effort to spotlight administrative officers and public servants whose work and leadership have had a positive impact on society, and that this year’s list identifies officers who have shown effective police leadership nationwide. It was further stated that the survey is an ongoing exercise, with officers’ performance to be evaluated continuously, and that in the next phase of the study, a special list of the country’s Top 25 police captains will be prepared from among the 100 officers already selected, who will also be felicitated. Besides Chhattisgarh, the list features officers from several states, including Madhya Pradesh, where SP Morena Sameer Saurabh, SP Jabalpur Sampat Upadhyay, and DCP Bhopal Headquarters Shraddha Tiwari were selected, along with officers from the AGMUT cadre covering Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh, as well as Andhra Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya, Gujarat and Haryana, among other States.
