CHIEFMinister Dr Mohan Yadav on Thursday urged young people to enter politics alongside pursuing careers in fields such as medicine and engineering, saying their active participation was essential to strengthening democracy. Addressing the inaugural session of Parliament Youth Parliament 2026 at the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, he said the initiative would connect young people with democratic values, parliamentary traditions and policymaking. The event, organised by Sakar Drishti Social Foundation and Kaleidohope Nagpur, brought together young participants from 12 states and 58 cities. Participants will deliberate in a parliamentary format on democratic values, parliamentary procedures and issues of national importance. Yadav recalled the contribution of young freedom fighters to India’s independence and cited Subhas Chandra Bose, who gave up the Indian Civil Service after clearing the examination to join the freedom movement. He said the country’s youth should similarly contribute to nation-building through public life and politics.

 

Yadav said Madhya Pradesh had sought suggestions from people across all districts and communities on the proposed Uniform Civil Code. He claimed that 76% of Muslim women who participated in the survey supported the UCC, and said Madhya Pradesh was among the major states to have passed legislation for its implementation. Yadav said the participation of young women in the youth parliament was an example of women’s empowerment. He also highlighted the values of India’s cultural tradition, including the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, and said the country must continue to respect judicial decisions. Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar said the Youth Parliament represented a miniature India and offered young people an opportunity to contribute to the country’s future. Dilip Buildcon CMD Dilip Suryavanshi said expanding industrial activity in Madhya Pradesh would create employment opportunities and urged young people to work for society with a spirit of service and commitment. Youth Parliament participant Aarab Singh Sharma said the State Government was encouraging young people to become employment creators rather than merely job seekers. He highlighted initiatives for youth and sports, including 274 Sandipani schools currently operating in Madhya Pradesh, with plans for 200 more.
