A 17-year-old girl went missing from her home in Mahakali Nagar after being scolded by her mother over photos posted on Instagram. Her mother has approached Beltarodi Police and alleged that an unknown person lured her daughter away. The girl lives with her mother and 13-year-old sister. Her mother works as a home-based caregiver. On August 10, the mother scolded the girl over photos she had uploaded on Instagram. The girl remained at home the next day. On August 12, the mother left for work in the morning. Later, the younger daughter returned from school and found the house locked.

 

The mother returned around 6 pm and found that her elder daughter was missing. Neighbours told her that the girl had left saying she was going to her class. However, she had not attended the class. Around 6 pm, the mother received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number. The message said the girl was safe and asked her not to approach the police. The mother tried calling her several times, but there was no response. The phone was later switched off. After failing to trace her through relatives and friends, the mother approached the police. Beltarodi Police registered a kidnapping case and started an investigation.
