FOREST officials have arrested a 42-year-old man for
attempting to hunt wildlife in
the Kanha Tiger Reserve.
The action was taken in
Supkhar Range of the reserve
following a tip-off from an
informer. Acting on the information, forest personnel
apprehended the accused
from Compartment No. 282 in
Supkhar Beat while he was
attempting to carry out wildlife
hunting.
The accused was identified
as Tirath Singh Tekam, son of
Kishan Singh, a resident of
Indri village under Motinala
police station in Bichhiya
tehsil.
During the operation,
officials seized one packet of
aluminium phosphide
(Sulphas), two clay pellets containing Sulphas and an axe
from his possession.
A forest offence case was
registered against the accused,
who was produced before the
competent court.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of
the Field Director and Deputy
Director of Kanha Tiger
Reserve. The team included
Range Officer Ashok
Rahangdale, Forester Asif
Qureshi, Forest Guard Sagar
Markam, security workers
Nandlal and Aghan Singh,
along with other forest personnel. The forest department
said the timely action based
on the informer’s input helped
prevent a potential wildlife
crime in the reserve.
