IN A horrific case of severe child abuse, illegal adoption, and document forgery, the New Rajendra Nagar Police have arrested six individuals, including a father who repeatedly raped his minor daughter, forced a miscarriage, and later conspired with an organised group to sell her newborn child using forged identification documents. The incident came to light after the minor victim approached the police station on August 17 to lodge a formal complaint detailing years of physical abuse and exploitation. According to police reports, the ordeal began in 2023 at a relative’s house in Amlidih, where the victim’s father raped her after threatening to kill her if she disclosed the assault. Living under constant fear, the minor remained silent while her father continued to assault her repeatedly, leading to her first pregnancy. When the victim confided in her paternal aunt about the pregnancy, the aunt informed the father. Together, the father and aunt physically assaulted the minor, procured abortion medication, and forcibly administered it to her, causing a forced miscarriage. The father resumed the repeated sexual assaults, resulting in a second pregnancy in 2025. To conceal the crime and profit from the outcome, the father contacted Varsha Mandal, who offered to shelter the victim and facilitate a secret delivery. The minor was moved between the homes of Varsha Mandal and her acquaintance, Geeta Rai (Yogita Rai), where she was kept hidden for nearly two months. Geeta Rai admitted the minor to Vasudev Hospital in Danganiya, Raipur, using a forged Aadhaar card that falsely listed the girl as a married adult. The victim gave birth to a baby boy via surgery.

Immediately following the delivery, the attending doctor, the father, and their accomplices forced the minor to sign paperwork under duress before handing over the newborn to a buyer. After keeping the victim at Geeta Rai’s residence for 15 days post-surgery, the father brought her back to their home. Following the victim’s detailed report, New Rajendra Nagar Police registered a case under Crime No 289/2026. Senior officials instructed an immediate crackdown, leading to the arrest of all six primary key accused and the seizure of two mobile phones used in coordinating the trafficking operation under Sections Sections 64(2)(f) [rape by relative/person in trust], 65, 336, 337, 61(2), 351(2), 115(2), 89, and 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 4(2), 5(n), and 6 [aggravated penetrative sexual assault on a child under 16] of POCSO Act and Section 81 [sale and procurement of children] of Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act. Arrested Accused include the victim’s father, the victim’s paternal aunt, Rohit Kumar Rai (35), S/o Late Paritosh Rai; Resident of Karan Nagar, Changorabhatha, , Saheb Mandal (42), S/o Late Shri Narayan Mandal; Resident of Little Star Home, Rishabh Nagar, , Yogita Rai alias Geeta Rai (32), W/o Rohit Kumar Rai; Resident of Karan Nagar, Changorabhatha, and Barkha Verma alias Varsha Mandal (34), W/o Saheb Mandal; Resident of Little Star Home, Rishabh Nagar, Raipur.
