AS MIRZAPUR:
The Movie gears
up for its theatrical release, the
makers have unveiled the film's
trailer, taking fans back into the gritty
and much-loved world of Mirzapur.
Ahead of the film's release, actor
Shweta Tripathi, who reprises her popular role as Golu Gupta, reflected on
her nearly decade-long association with
the character and the special relationship she has developed with the
Mirzapur audience. "Mirzapur has
become a family for me. And it is not
just the team but also the audience.
Whenever I go out, people call me 'Golu
Didi', and that is very important to
me," Tripathi told ANI.
The actor said the franchise has given her a level of recognition that has
gone beyond the screen. "What
Mirzapur has given me is incredible. It
has made me a household name. I love
the way fans add 'Didi' when they
address me," she added.
Tripathi also spoke about why Golu
remains such a significant character in
her journey. "I love Golu because she
is not a regular girl. She is somebody
who changed because of her social surroundings. The amount of love and
respect that I have received is very precious,"
she said.
The theatrical release is
particularly exciting for the
actor, who believes the
communal experience of
watching Mirzapur on the
big screen will bring a new
energy to the franchise.
"Mirzapur on the big screen
brings a different level of
fun. So many people will
watch it together, and that
is something I am really
looking forward to," Tripathi said.
The film takes audiences back to the
world of Season 1, exploring a chapter
in Golu's story that was left unresolved.
Tripathi explained that the narrative follows Golu at the point when Sweety
(Shriya Pilgaonkar) and Babloo (Vikrant
Massey) die, changing the course of her
life. "The film is from the world of
Season 1. This is a chapter that was left
somewhere in between. This is Golu
when Sweety and Babloo are taken
away from her and her entire life
changes," she said.
For Tripathi, returning to Golu after
nine years is also a
deeply personal
experience. "It has
been nine years
since Golu has been
a part of me and I
have been a part of
Golu. It has taught
me a lot of things,
and it is still teaching me," she said.
With the trailer
reigniting nostalgia
for the original
'Mirzapur' universe
and bringing its familiar characters
back to the forefront, the film is set to
give fans an opportunity to experience
the franchise in an entirely new format
on the big screen.
Continuing from the world of
Season 1, Mirzapur: The Movie brings
together some of the franchise's most
beloved and iconic characters, including Kaleen Bhaiya, Munna Bhaiya and
Guddu Pandit.
Mirzapur: The Movie, is directed by
Gurmmeet Singh, is set to hit theatres
on September 4, 2026.
