police Police have arrested 35-
year-old Sheikh Adil, a
wanted accused in the sensational murder of Aniraj Naidu
under Madhotal police
station and an attempted murder case registered at Gwarighat
police station.
Additional SP (City), Ayush
Jakhar (IPS), while addressing a
press conference, on Tuesday,
informed that, Adil was wanted
in Madhotal Police Station in
case under Section 302 of IPC and
in Gwarighat Police Station under
Sections 307 and 34 of the IPC.
Acting on a tip-off on August 17,
2026, Crime Branch raided a
house in Bhoolan Basti in
Lordganj and apprehended
Adil.
ASP, Jakhar added that in the
raid police seized a countrymade pistol loaded with four
cartridges in Adil’s waistband.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he had been staying at house with the help of
Shekhar Choubey. Police further claimed that Adil revealed
the presence of additional
firearms and ammunition kept
for sale by Suyash alias Chhotu
Choubey and Babu Sindhi.
Following his disclosure,
police recovered two additional
country-made pistols with
magazines, one revolver, three
country-made guns, two air
guns, one sword, one baka, one
knife, nine empty magazines,
50 live cartridges and 68 fired
cartridge cases. Police also
seized 23 mobile phones and
a passport belonging to Adil.
Police alleged that Adil was
an active member of the
Chhotu Choubey gang and
claimed that he admitted to
carrying out Aniraj Naidu’s
murder at Chhotu Choubey’s
direction.
He also admitted
involvement in supplying
weapons and ammunition
used in an attack on Ratan
Yadav.
Cases under the Arms Act
have been registered against
Adil, Shekhar Choubey, Suyash
alias Chhotu Choubey and
Babu Sindhi. Police said
Chhotu Choubey, described as
an organised-crime figure was
detained under the National
Security Act (NSA) two months
ago and is currently lodged in
Jabalpur Central Jail.
The operation was conducted under the supervision
of senior Crime Branch officers, with several police personnel playing a key role in the
arrest and seizure.
