A 26-year-old woman was found murdered and her 45-year-old boyfriend was found seriously injured in a hotel room in Manish Nagar on Tuesday night. The incident took place at Hotel Stories, located behind Ajit Bakery, under Beltarodi police station. The deceased has been identified as Shivani. Her boyfriend, Kiran Sanjay Atram, suffered serious stab injuries. Both Shivani and Kiran are Railway employees. They live in Ajni police station area. The incident has brought back an old dispute involving the couple. In 2023, Shivani’s family had approached Ajni police and complained against Kiran. The family had objected to Kiran allegedly roaming around with Shivani. According to police, Kiran left his house on Tuesday morning. At around 12 noon, he called his wife and asked her to take care of the children as I am leaving. The statement worried his wife.

 

She sensed that something was wrong. She informed one of Kiran’s friends. The friend and family members then started searching for him. During the search, they noticed Kiran’s vehicle parked near Hotel Stories in Manish Nagar. They went to the hotel and made inquiries with the staff. They learnt that Kiran and Shivani were in Room No. 302 on the third floor. The family members and friends went to the room. They knocked on the door but there was no response. They became suspicious and broke open the door. Shivani and Kiran were lying in a pool of blood inside the room. A knife was found in Shivani’s hand. She had a deep injury on her neck. Blood was oozing from the wound. She was unconscious and later declared dead. Kiran was still conscious.

 

He had serious injuries on his neck and other parts of his body. Blood had spilled all over the floor. The sight left the family members and police shocked. One detail caught the attention of investigators. The bed was decorated with flowers. Police are now examining why the room had been prepared in such a manner and what had happened between the couple before the attack. The police are suspecting that Kiran may have attacked Shivani with the knife and later injured himself. Investigators are checking the nature and location of the injuries to find out whether this sequence is possible. CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding area is being examined.

 

Police are also checking hotel records, the couple’s movements and other evidence from the room. Senior police officers rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. DCP Rishikesh Singareddy and DCP Detection Deepak Agrawal inspected the hotel room. Crime Branch and Beltarodi police teams collected evidence from the scene. The body was sent for post-mortem. Kiran was admitted to hospital for treatment. Police said the exact sequence of events will become clear after the forensic examination, post-mortem report and further investigation.
