The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has launched an investigation into an extortion email allegedly sent in the name of the Bishnoi gang to a 60-year-old man from Surve Nagar and his daughter working in Canada. The sender demanded Rs 10 lakh and threatened to kill both of them if the money was not paid. The man lives under Pratap Nagar police station limits. His daughter works for a private company in Canada. According to police, the daughter checked her email on Monday evening and found the threatening message.

She was shocked and immediately informed police. She also alerted her father in Nagpur. The father later told her that he too had received a similar email demanding Rs 10 lakh. The father and daughter approached Pratap Nagar police on Tuesday morning and lodged a complaint. ATS officials have now joined the probe. Investigators are trying to trace the source of the emails and identify the sender. Police are also checking whether the emails were actually sent by members of the Bishnoi gang or whether someone used the gang’s name to create fear and extort money. Investigators are examining the email IDs, digital trail and other technical details to establish the identity of the sender.
