‘Bhargavastra’, world’s first-of-its-kind guided micro missile counter-drone system, the brain-child of city-based Solar Group is likely to be added in the arsenal of Indian Army soon as the city-based company is planning to start its delivery from December onwards. “Keeping the recent wars in mind the micro missile counter-drone system is going to be a game changer for India as well as for the world in near future.

‘Bhargavastra’ is the first such system which is developed by us in Nagpur for India to counter future drone attacks,” said Padma Shri Satyanarayan Nuwal, Chairman, Solar Group of Industries during his felicitation programme conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur at its premises on Wednesday. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself visited the manufacturing facility of ‘Bhargavastra’ in the recent past and was impressed of its capability,” said Nuwal while addressing the management students. The anti-drone system can fire 64 missiles in one go and weight of the system is not more than 4 kgs. It is also the cheaper option to counter drone strikes for which costly surface-to-air missiles continue to be used in conflict zones.

The systems were developed taking cues from the Azerbaijan-Armenia and Russo-Ukraine conflicts, where over 10,000 drones are deployed annually. Nuwal also mentioned that the first universal 125 kg air bomb that could be used equally on NATO (Western) and Russian fighter aircrafts are in its final stage. The final trials of the air bomb will take place in the next 4-5 months. Normally, Indian Air Force face challenges to modify NATO standard bombs into Russian aircrafts and vice versa. However, this universal air bomb can be fitted in any fighter aircraft, said Nuwal. The 125 kg air bomb completed the user trials on Miraj 2000 and Russian Sukhoi 30MKI fighter jets and also received approval for fitment.
