LOCAL residents and Congress workers staged a protest under the banner of Urban District Congress Committee (UDCC) Raipur after a child drowned in a drain in Amlidih and demanded to register an FIR against the guilty officers. The protest was held under the banner of UDCC Raipur President Shreekumar Shankar Menon. The UDCC Raipur submitted a memorandum to Station House Officer of New Rajendra Nagar Police Station, demanding to take action against the negligent individuals responsible for the incident in which a child drowned in a drain in Amlidih. The UDCC submitted the memorandum to the Station House Officer of the New Rajendra Nagar Police Station regarding the death of four-and-a-half-year-old Kavyansh Sahu, who drowned after being swept into a drain in Amlidih.

The Congress demanded that an FIR be registered against those responsible and strict action be taken. UDCC Raipur President Shreekumar Shankar Menon stated that reports of children drowning in the city are frequently received due to administrative negligence. Despite the untimely deaths of so many children, the government and administration remain mute spectators. The lack of action against those responsible, even after accidents occur, encourages them to maintain an indifferent and negligent attitude, he added. Former MLA Vikas Upadhyay, DCC (Rural) Raipur Pankaj Sharma, Jasbir Dhillan, Shiv Thakur, Hirendra Dewangan, Anjuman Dhebar, Om Sriwas, Sudha Saroj, Kamal Dhritlahre, Dev Sahu, Milind Gautam, Vijay Tandon, Raja Banjare, Rajendra Sahu, Narendra Sahu, Yavnesh Joshi, Tula Sahu, Dushyant Sahu, Raja Joshi and other Congress leaders participated in the protest.
