Dr Sanjay Kumar Yadav bestowed with ACS’ A RMoossa International Guest Scholarship Award
Staff Reporter :
IN RECOGNITIONof pioneering
efforts to establish affordable and
modern breast cancer surgical
care in low-resource settings, the
prestigious American College of
Surgeons (ACS) A R Moossa
International Guest Scholarship
Award 2026 has been bestowed
on Dr Sanjay Kumar Yadav.
The international award honoured clinical work conducted
over the past six years aimed at
delivering guideline-concordant,
high-quality oncological procedures to underserved and tribal
patient populations in and
around Jabalpur.
It may be mentioned that considered among the most distinguished international honors
conferred by the American
College of Surgeons for medical
professionals operating outside
the United States and Canada,
the ACS A R Moossa Scholarship
highlights the broader impact of
accessible healthcare innovations.
The awarded work focuses on
adapting advanced surgical techniques typically available primarily at high-cost tertiary cancer centers into cost-effective,
evidence-based practices tailored for resource-constrained
environments.
Key surgical innovations developed through this initiative
include low-cost sentinel lymph
node techniques, oncoplastic
surgical methods and structured
lymphedema-prevention strategies.
By systematically lowering
economic barriers without sacrificing standard clinical guidelines, the initiative has successfully bridged the gap in modern
cancer care access for rural and
vulnerable demographics across
the region.
The recognition reinforces a
critical principle in modern medicine: the true value of healthcare innovation is measured by
its direct benefit to patient outcomes rather than the financial
cost of its delivery.
Dr Yadav attributed the success of these developments to collaborative institutional support
and expressed heartfelt gratitude
toward key leadership and academic mentors, including
Dean Professor Navneet
Saxena, Superintendent Arvind
Sharma, Professor Dhananjaya
Sharma, Head of Department
Dr Deepti Sharma, Dr Pawan
Agarwal and Dr Vikesh.
Acknowledgments were also
extended to mentors from SGPGI, unit team members Dr
Ashutosh Silodia, Dr Arvind
and Dr Pradeep Kothiya, alongside surgical residents and multidisciplinary collaborators
across Surgery, Radiation
Oncology, Radiology, Pathology
and ENT.
