With the aim of further enhancing the health facilities in the district, the ‘Integrated Health Improvement’ review meeting of the Health Department was held at the ‘Jijau Hall’ of the District Collector’s Office under the chairmanship of the State Relief and Rehabilitation Minister and Guardian Minister Makarand Patil, recently. MLA Manoj Kayande, District Collector Dr Praveen Kumar Deore, Superintendent of Police Nilesh Tambe, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Gulabrao Kharat, District Surgeon Dr Dattatray Birajdar, District Health Officer Dr Ranjit Mandala, District Planning Officer Rahul Pawar and other key officials of the relevant departments were present in this meeting.
 
In this meeting, the Guardian Minister directed the administration to take strict legal action against those who perform illegal fetal sex determination, as well as to implement the malnutrition-free and 100 percent health screening campaign at the earliest. The Guardian Minister appreciated the action taken by the District Surgeons’ team against the gangs conducting illegal sex determination under the PCPNDT Act. Underlining that increasing the birth rate of girls is very necessary for the healthy growth of the society, he said,
 
“Acts like female foeticide are extremely painful and inappropriate for the society. Strictest legal action should be taken against those who commit such illegal acts without any delay.” Children are the future of the country and it is important for them to remain healthy and fit. Guardian Minister Patil directed the Health Department to undertake a special campaign to ensure that school children in the district, especially children from tribal areas, get a balanced diet and overcome the problem of malnutrition. The Asha and Anganwadi workers who provide health services are doing an excellent job, and he gave instructions to take maximum advantage of their services.
