Staff Reporter :
LPG consumers across the city have only Sunday to complete their mandatory biometric electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification.
Oil marketing companies (OMCs) including Indane (IOCL), Bharat Gas (BPCL), and HP Gas (HPCL) had extended the deadline from August 16 to August 23 to ease long queues at distributorships, prevent portal overloads, and give remaining consumers a final window to complete Aadhaar-based authentication. Consumers who have already completed their biometric verification do not need to repeat the process.
However, those who have failed to complete authentication before August 23 deadline risk service restrictions or temporary suspension of their subsidised LPG connections.
To avoid visiting crowded agency offices, consumers can complete the verification at home via smartphone apps using facial recognition.
Required documents includes registered mobile number, LPG consumer ID, Aadhaar card details, and the government-authorised Aadhaar FaceRD mobile application downloaded on the device.
Indane Gas: Consumers can log into the IndianOil One app, link their 16-digit LPG ID, navigate to the ‘My Profile’ section, and initiate e-KYC.
Bharat Gas: Users can open the Hello BPCL app, select the e-KYC option directly from the home screen, and verify via OTP. HP Gas: Connection holders can log in to the HP Pay app, access ‘My HP’, and proceed to the e-KYC option.
Once initiated, the app
activates the front camera to capture the consumer’s face via AadhaarFaceRD, instantly confirming verification. Consumers who fail to complete the required e-KYC may face consquences with their LPG services, depending on the applicable rules of the oil marketing companies. Consumers are urged to finish the process immediately to ensure seamless cylinder bookings and subsidy transfers.
