MILD showers on Saturday evening brought down the maximum temperature by almost five degrees Celsius in Nagpur city. Despite huge rainfall deficit in Nagpur city, Saturday’s light rain provided a relief to citizens. Presence of a Cyclonic Circulation in Bay of Bengal (BoB) causing rains in the region in the last 48 hours which may continue till August 24. India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate rains in remaining days of August which hardly help to overcome the deficit of the month.
 
In last 36 hours, Gondia received the highest 24.8 mm rainfall in Vidarbha followed by Bramhapuri (24.6 mm), Gadchiroli (13.6 mm), Wardha (13.6 mm), Nagpur (13.3 mm), Bhandara (8 mm), Yavatmal (4.4 mm), Amravati (2.6 mm), and Chandrapur (2 mm). Bhandara witnessed the highest maximum temperature with 32.0 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Due to lack of rains in last 48 hours, Akola also witnessed the maximum temperature above 31.0 degrees Celsius. Remaining parts of Vidarbha recorded the day temperature below 30 degrees on Saturday. The Weather Department also issued ‘Yellow Alert’ on August 23 and 24 as Gondia and Gadchiroli districts may witness heavy rainfall in one or two places. Whereas remaining places will witness light showers with cloudy weather for most of the time.
