Art of getting things done

The biggest source of stress, at times, is not the work itself, but the minute tasks that we keep on getting delayed for tomorrow. In the daily hustle-bustle, we are so exhausted that we tend to pile up minute tasks. And then one day, we realise the mountain of work in front of us and have no clue as to what should be done with it. This happens with each one of us as we have so many things to catch up with that we automatically tend to leave a few tasks for the later and push it under the rug of “Will handle that later”. A simple yet powerful solution to this is that the day you feel these tasks have piled up just sit down, take a pen and paper, jot down all the trivial and crucial tasks that you have been pushing for the later or that tomorrow.

Then rank them by order of priority, like on the basis of urgency, difficulty of task, impact etc. Once that’s done, start working on it! No overthinking, no perfecting the minute details, not waiting for the perfect day, not trying to be flawless. Just take action. We place an immense load on ourselves just to improve the previously done work and in the name of improvement there is only delay and no action. At times, when you don’t take the basic action, you never open the doors to new opportunities. And once you tick these tasks off you realise the mountain was you and the set of tasks were just a molehill left unattended which created a mental load so huge. You don’t have to be perfectly prepared to begin doing something, you just need to begin somewhere.
