MONSOON has transformed Sanskardhani into a land of overflowing reservoirs and breathtaking waterfalls. While the swollen Narmada has brought flooding and inconvenience, it has also unveiled some of the most spectacular natural sights the region has witnessed this season. The overflowing river has carved countless sparkling cascades through rocky terrain, creating scenes that resemble hidden mountain waterfalls and offering a rare visual treat seen only during an exceptional monsoon. After days of continuous rainfall, the city’s major water sources are overflowing or nearing full capacity. Pariyat Reservoir overflowed on Saturday, while Khandari Reservoir is on the verge of reaching its maximum level. Mohari, Barera and Barnu reservoirs in the adjoining tehsils are also filling rapidly, ensuring a strong water reserve for the coming months. The rising water has created a series of seasonal waterfalls around Rudrakund, Marble Rock Garden and Temar. Streams rushing over rocky cliffs have turned these locations into popular attractions, drawing visitors eager to witness nature in its finest form.

 

The overflowing Pariyat Reservoir has itself become a major attraction, where cascading water has formed a stunning natural fall. At several points, the swollen Narmada spills over layered rocks, forming milky-white waterfalls, floating mist and emerald surroundings that together create a dreamlike landscape. At the same time, the powerful discharge from Bargi Dam has raised the Narmada River by several feet. Floodwaters have submerged ghats, temples and shops along the riverfront. The iconic Dhuandhar Falls at Bhedaghat has disappeared beneath the swollen river, while parts of the New Bhedaghat area remain surrounded by water. The city is now witnessing two contrasting faces of the same river. One brings disruption through floods and waterlogging, while the other creates dreamlike waterfalls and lush green landscapes that leave visitors spellbound. For Jabalpur, this monsoon is both a reminder of nature’s immense power and a celebration of its unmatched beauty.
