GAME of Thrones star Kit Harington has replaced fellow British actor Nicholas Hoult in HBO's muchawaited Harry Potter series. According to Deadline, the actor will take on the role of Gilderoy Lockhart in the show's second season. Hoult had to exit the series due to scheduling conflicts. The show, a new take on author J K Rowling's bestselling novels of the same name, is set to make its debut on the American premium cable network in December this year and has already been renewed for a second chapter.

 

It will feature Dominic McLaughlin in the titular role alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Harington, best known for his role as Jon Snow in HBO's epic fantasy series Game of Thrones, recently voiced Gilderoy Lockhart, a key character in the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, for Audible's Harry Potter audiobooks, released late last year.
