Staff Reporter :
INTERMITTENT rain has continued in the city since Monday
night. The rain has brought relief
from the humid weather and kept
temperatures low. Several parts
of the city received heavy showers on Tuesday. However, waterlogging was also reported from
several areas.
The weather activity is linked
to an active monsoon system
over Madhya Pradesh. A monsoon trough, cyclonic circulation and a low pressure area are
influencing the weather. These
systems have increased rainfall
activity across the State.
Cloudy skies continued over
Jabalpur on Tuesday. Rain is
expected to continue at intervals
over the next few days.
The
Weather Department has also
issued alert for moderate to heavy
rainfall in Jabalpur and nearby
districts. Isolated heavy rain of 50
mm is possible. Thunderstorms,
lightning and gusty winds of 30
to 40 kmph may also occur. The
continuing rain has affected
normal movement in some
parts of the city. Water accumulated on several roads and
low lying areas after the heavy
showers. Traffic movement was
also affected at some locations.
The weather is likely to
remain cloudy with rain spells.
Residents may get some relief
from the heat, but the possibility of waterlogging remains
in low lying areas. The Weather
Department has advised people to remain cautious during
thunderstorms and avoid open
areas during lightning activity
