CHIEFMinister Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated the fourth integrated manufacturing unit of Godrej Consumer Products Private Limited in Malanpur in Bhind district. Established with an additional investment of Rs 450 crore by the Godrej Group, this facility converts the Malanpur industrial complex into home for Asia’s largest integrated soap manufacturing plant, capable of producing up to 4,000 soap bars per minute, according to officials. The expansion is set to generate direct employment for over 600 people, providing a vital economic boost to the local workforce. Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Dr Yadav emphasised that Chambal is rapidly shedding its past reputation to forge a new identity anchored in large-scale industrialisation. He noted that Godrej’s initial decision to invest in Malanpur over three decades ago, and its continuous scaling since, demonstrates deep corporate trust in Madhya Pradesh’s economic potential. With this fourth manufacturing unit coming online, Godrej’s total cumulative investment at the Malanpur site has reached Rs 850 crore, expanding its local employee base from 2,200 to 2,800 workers while elevating its overall soap production capacity to 2 lakh tonnes.

 

The State’s progressive industrial environment, particularly recent policy updates enabling women to work night shifts backed by stringent security measures, earned strong praise during the event. Executive Chairperson Nisaba Godrej highlighted that the new facility will generate an estimated annual turnover of Rs 3,800 crore once fully operational, while creating advanced technical, operational, and leadership roles for women across the shop floor. Chief Minister Dr Yadav reiterated the State Government’s commitment to ensuring ease of doing business, noting that over 30 per cent of the investment proposals received during recent industrial summits have already materialised on the ground. Beyond consumer goods, the surrounding belt is witnessing rapid diversification, with major projects in solar cell manufacturing, glass production, and defence manufacturing taking shape to cement the region’s position as a robust hub for manufacturing and job creation.
