Staff Reporter :
PANIC gripped a residential
colony in Bairagarh Chichli
under Kajlikheda police station
after two masked men allegedly fired several rounds outside
a property dealer’s house
around 3 am on Wednesday.
The firing damaged the rear
and side windows of his car.
Police said that the property
dealer and his family were
inside the house when they
heard gunshots. When a young
woman stepped outside, the
accused allegedly fired another shot and fled. CCTV footage
reportedly captured the two
men, who had covered their
faces. Old dispute suspected
behind firing: The complainant,
Ajay Bairagi, alleged that the
firing was linked to an old dispute. He claimed that he had
earlier filed an attempt-to-murder case against some people
following a dispute and had
allegedly been pressured to
compromise.
Police are verifying the allegation. Police deny
delay in FIR: Bairagi alleged that
police initially asked him to
return after a few hours instead
of immediately registering his
complaint. Kajlikheda police
station in-charge Pallavi
Pandey denied the allegation,
saying immediate action was
taken and efforts were underway to trace the accused.
Bairagi alleged that Jeetu Yadav
of Bairagarh Chichli was behind
the firing due to the old rivalry. Police are examining the
CCTV footage to establish the
sequence of events and identify those involved. The number of people present during
the firing and the exact motive
are also being investigated.
