(VFJ) on
August 27, as
part of the Centre’s efforts to
strengthen the country’s
defence capabilities under
Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Defence Minister Rajnath
Singh will attend the high-level ceremony as the chief guest
and lay the foundation stone
for the new overhaul facility for
lethal T-72 tanks. The project
is aimed at creating modern
infrastructure for the technical
upgradation, overhaul and routine maintenance of the Indian
Army’s main battle tank T-72.
The facility is expected to significantly enhance the operational readiness and combat
capabilities of the Army’s
armoured fleet while reducing
the time required for repairs
and overhauling of heavy
armoured vehicles.
According to the scheduled
programme, guests will begin
arriving through Gate No. 1 at
around 10 am, while the main
foundation-laying ceremony
is scheduled for 1 pm.
Security arrangements at
Vehicle Factory premises have
been tightened ahead of the
event. Special surveillance
teams have been deployed at
entry points while necessary
administrative permissions
and security guidelines have
been issued.
The new overhaul facility
is expected to strengthen
India’s self-reliance in
defence production and
contribute to faster restoration
and maintenance of critical
military equipment. The project is also being viewed as an
important step towards developing advanced technical
capabilities within the country’s defence manufacturing
ecosystem.
VFJ management has
completed preparations for
the high-profile defence programme, with extensive security and logistical arrangements being put in place across
the premises.
