NATIONAL Sports Daywas celebrated with great enthusiasm
under the joint auspices of
National Institute of Swimming
and JD Sports Foundation at the
Conference Hall, ManewadaBesa Road Swimming Pool.
The event began with paying
floral tributes to the portrait of
hockey wizard Major
Dhyanchand.
Speaking on the occasion, former Joint Director, Sports
Department, Government of
Maharashtra, Dr Jaiprakash
Duble,threw light on legendary
Major Dhyanchand’s contribution to Indian hockey at the
Olympics and the importance of National Sports Day. He urged
players to followDhyanchand’s
discipline and patriotism.
Former Headmaster of
Keshav nagar High Schooland a
swimming coach, Pradeep Keche
was present as the chief guest.
In his speech, he highlighted the
values of devotion, dedication
and determination that
Dhyanchand exemplified.
A sports quiz based on the life
and achievements of Major
Dhyanchandwas alsoorganised
which saw enthusiastic participation from alarge number of
sports persons. The quiz was conducted by Arun Bute and the
winners were awarded prizes.
The program was compered by
Prof Sham Falke while Jayant
Duble, Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee
and Secretary, JDSF proposed a
vote of thanks.
