Nagpur witnessed a musical achievement as 112 singers came together on a single stage to perform 121 consecutive duet songs, earning a place in the Indian Book of Records 2026. The record-setting event was organised by the Dr Dande Foundation and Shanti Ganeshotsav Sanskritik Mandal in association with the Mohammed Rafi Sanskritik Manch as a tribute to legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi. The programme titled ‘Gaye Chala Ja’ was conceptualised by veteran singer Sunil Kumar Waghmare.

 

The nearly 12-hour musical marathon, held at Amrit Bhavanam Hall, featured performances by 12 professional and 100 amateur singers from city, who collectively presented 121 duets. A special highlight of the event was singer Apurva Hirde from Mauda, who created an individual milestone by performing 50 duet songs with different singers during the programme. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Shrimant Mudhojiraje Bhosale, Dr Sagar Khadiwala, Prakash Kothari, Jaiprakash Gupta, Narendra Satija, Bharat Thakkar, Manoj Thakkar, corporator Shrikant Aglawe, IPS officer Vinita Sahu, Sanjay Chinchole and Marathi actor Devendra Dodke. Indrajit More, Founder-Director of the Indian Book of Records, was present. All participating singers were honoured with medals and certificates in recognition of their contribution to the record-breaking cultural event.
