Nirmay Madhav Pakhare (19), accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, was discharged from the hospital and taken to the Central Jail on Friday. The court had earlier ordered that he be sent to judicial custody. Pakhare was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after complaining of chest pain during a routine medical examination. His condition was stable. After his discharge, police took him to the Central Jail. Meanwhile, Hudkeshwar Police recorded the statement of the survivor. She reportedly told investigators the sequence of events and described the alleged brutality inflicted on her. Police had earlier searched Pakhare’s residence in Thane and seized eight types of sharp weapons. The seizure included knives, long knives, choppers and other cutting weapons. Some weapons appeared to have been recently sharpened.

Police also seized a laptop and a large quantity of different types of contraceptives. The laptop will be sent for forensic examination. Investigators are trying to find out why Pakhare kept the weapons and contraceptives at his residence. Police are also trying to unlock his mobile phone. Pakhare has reportedly refused to share its password. Investigators suspect it may contain important digital evidence. The survivor’s mobile phone has already been unlocked. Police are examining chats, call records and other data. Pakhare was arrested after police rescued the girl from a rented room in Dighori. She was allegedly tied up and had around 20 injuries, including wounds on her wrists and neck. He has been booked under the POCSO Act, kidnapping and other relevant provisions.
