REMAINING unbeaten in the tournament, Rutam Zanwar emerged champion in the Nagpur District 121st Weekend Open Rapid Chess Tournament that was jointly hosted by Nagpur District Chess Association and Dhanwate National College. The event was held at NDCA Hall, Sports Complex, DNC, Congress Nagar.

 

As many as 15 ELO rated players participated in this tournament. Total 5 rounds were played. In the fifth and final round, playing with white pieces Rutam defeated Ritvik Jaiswal on the second board to take the title. Vishwaditya Awasthi and Sai Sharma finished on an identical four points each but better tie-break score gave the former second spot. Spandan Wahane (3½) and the trio of Ritvik, Chandrashekhar Sable and Ansh Dhanvij who finished on three points each took the fourth to seventh spots in that order. Top 7 players of the tournament were handed cash prizes by Chief Arbiter IA Pravin Pantawane.
